Claude Code is different from most AI coding assistants. It doesn't sit inside your editor suggesting completions as you type. Instead, it runs in your terminal as an autonomous agent — you describe what you want, and it goes and builds it.
Think of it like this: Copilot is a co-pilot sitting next to you, offering suggestions while you drive. Claude Code is more like handing the keys to a competent driver and saying, "Take me to the airport." You're still in the car. You can redirect at any time. But it's doing the driving.
This makes it exceptionally powerful for certain workflows — and less suited for others. Let's dig in.
